This evening on “Piers Morgan Tonight,” author, producer, and actor Kevin Smith sits down for an in-person interview, touching upon everything from politics to pornography.

The star of such films as “Dogma” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” Smith speaks candidly and emotionally when the subject turns to social issues, as he draws context and perspective from his gay brother:

“He goes to church, every Sunday, my brother Donald. And I go: ‘Why do you keep going to an organization that doesn’t want you, that wants no part of you?’” explains Smith. “He’s like ‘Because F them. It makes me feel good.’”

Discussing a general lack of tolerance, and various instances of anti-homosexual sentiment and behavior, Smith comes to his brother’s defense:

“I know my brother, he’s a great guy, goes to church, doesn’t screw anybody over, and yet he’s still got some religious yahoos and politicos over to the side going: ‘Change your ways or you’re going to hell,’” Smith tells Piers Morgan. “Stay out of my brother’s bedroom, buddy. Like I don’t know what else to tell you. He’s a good dude.”
