The men had met with a manager of the West Village eatery named Tommy Ho, but they were later told that a senior manager who is being identified as Mr. Fong told Ho to “make an excuse” for canceling the event.
“Fong was visibly angry and told Ho that he didn’t want any ‘gay parties’ at Amber Village,” the suit claims.
The lawsuit goes on to say, “Fong told Ho that it’s ‘very bad’ for Amber Village to book ‘gay parties’ and that big groups of ‘gay partyers’ are especially bad for feng shui.”
Then Fong evidently fired Ho. The News tried to contact the restaurant for comment, but no one could be reached since Amber Village closed in June. A manager at another restaurant with the same owners who denied any discrimination saying, “This is the West Village. We don’t turn away anyone. We have gay managers.”
The couple claims they were never refunded a $500 deposit charged to their credit card when they were planning their party.
